Earth Day Celebration

FIS co-sponsors the Earth Day Celebration in April each year. In past years, the event was held at the Port Haney Resource Centre. To increase the event's profile, the 2005 Celebration was held at the ACT in downtown Maple Ridge.

Workshops

FIS presents workshops on environmental topics and organic gardening from time to time. Examples of past topics include "How to Get Your Lawn Off Drugs" and "Growing Salads in Containers."

The Ridge Meadows Recycling Society presents a regular series of composting and worm composting workshops at the Port Haney Compost Education Garden at our Centre each year.
